| Customer Reviews: Average Rating: Rating : - The best female vocalist you've never heard of... How Kate Fenner hasn't reached a greater level of fame, especially here in the States, is mind-boggling.
Her voice is that of an angry angel, and she seems equally at home singing folksy ballads as she is belting out blues. And I mean belting, with an intensity that would make your ears bow down in worship if only they could. Small wonder B. B. King tapped her to tour with him a few years back. It's almost a shame to compare her to other singers, as her voice is very much her own, and quite distinctive, but I will say that if you enjoy folks like Kathleen Edwards, Aimee Mann, Brandi Carlile, and other female singer/songwriters who know how to own the listener with just their voice, then this CD should be on your list of must-haves. And if you are in the New York/Toronto area, do yourself a favor and check her out live.
Also well worth the effort is her work with musical partner Chris Brown and her former group, the well regarded Bourbon Tabernacle Choir. + See Full Customer Review | |
